Melker Barck took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dráusio Toscano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Galo do Japi's Benedito Nóbrega proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 21st minute of the match, managed to save Galo do Japi from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ademir Carvalho in the 24th minute of play forced Billesholm's goalkeeper Melker Barck to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 28 minutes into the match, Billesholm's Leonard Gallin sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Benedito Nóbrega narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 30th minute Billesholm were awarded a corner. Leonard Gallin went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Leonard Gallin almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Galo do Japi's Benedito Nóbrega did a great save. In the 39th minute, Oskar Kilman fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. A collision led to Galo do Japi getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Orlando Arruda hit a great ball. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Dráusio Toscano to make the kick off. When Denílson Urbano fell near the penalty area in the 59th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Galo do Japi's protests and gave Denílson Urbano a yellow card for diving instead. After 59 played minutes Galo do Japi got a freekick which was hit by Denílson Urbano. Galo do Japi made a substitution. Dudu Alagoano replaced Dráusio Toscano. A collision led to Galo do Japi getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Denílson Urbano hit a great ball. Benedito Nóbrega showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Herman Åkerman in the 64th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Galo do Japi defense, Tony Hedberg kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benedito Nóbrega. The Galo do Japi fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benedito Nóbrega should have stopped the shot. Benedito Nóbrega showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kenny Wallin, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. After 77 played minutes Galo do Japi got a freekick which was hit by Denílson Urbano. In the 78th minute of the match Leonard Gallin shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Benedito Nóbrega showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The referee felt a red card was in order, 90 minutes into the game, when Kléber Koehler put in a rough tackle. After 89 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Galo do Japi! In the 97th minute, Kenny Wallin ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Benedito Nóbrega was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-2. Galo do Japi's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
