Spectators: 147 (Terracing: 111, Seating: 34, VIP seats: 2) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Válter Barbosa started the match with the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 4th minute, Luiz Cavalcante managed to get in a good position for a shot. Montesclarense E.C.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Luiz Cavalcante was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Giovani de Amaral breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Luiz Cavalcante in the 6thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Giovani de Amaral, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. The audience was convinced that Luiz Cavalcante's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Giovani de Amaral was relentless in the 8th minute of the game. In the 9th minute of the match Montesclarense E.C. got a corner. Portuguesa's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Luiz Monteiro ran over to the corner to take the kick. Elivélton Koehler took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Válter Barbosa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Marcel Paraense kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. Giovani de Amaral showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luiz Cavalcante, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. If Wilson Sá had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 24th match minute, Montesclarense E.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carlinhos Coutinho to maneuver through the defense. Portuguesa's Giovani de Amaral proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 26th minute of the match, managed to save Portuguesa from getting a goal against them. If Válter Barbosa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Válter Barbosa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luiz Fabiano Aguiar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Giovani de Amaral having to interfere. Lauro Gerber kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. If Luiz Cavalcante had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 45 minutes, Luiz Cavalcante managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Montesclarense E.C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Luiz Cavalcante was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Luiz Cavalcante received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Giovani de Amaral tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Luiz Cavalcante was the one to do the kick off. Luiz Fabiano Aguiar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Giovani de Amaral having to interfere. In the 59th minute, Wilson Sá hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Montesclarense E.C.'s Erivaldo Coelho got a free kick in the 61st minute. After having played for 62 minutes, Oscar Seco managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Portuguesa's supporters crossed their fingers, but Oscar Seco was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Régis Loureiro came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the Portuguesa fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Régis Loureiro couldn't finish the play. Luiz Fabiano Aguiar kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. In the 68th minute, Wilson Sá made a precise shot to the right of Giovani de Amaral. Portuguesa's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Elivélton Koehler made an important save on a dangerous shot by Régis Loureiro in the 72nd minute. Luiz Cavalcante recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 80 minutes in the game, Válter Barbosa fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Elivélton Koehler having to interfere. Montesclarense E.C.'s defense didn't have a chance, in the 83rd minute, when Válter Barbosa scored to the left of an out of position Elivélton Koehler, making the score, 1-1. If Luiz Fabiano Aguiar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpected shot in the 90th minute by Luciano Salgado got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. 96 minutes into the match, Régis Loureiro had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Elivélton Koehler. Montesclarense E.C.'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Régis Loureiro was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. The Portuguesa supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Portuguesa would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
