Tadeo Abilio hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. Catarinense F.C.'s Benicio Gaitan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Enrique Gudesteo in the 8th minute of play. Benicio Gaitan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Victor Azeari, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. After 12 played minutes Catarinense F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Romeo Osorio. An unexpectedly hard shot by Enrique Gudesteo in the 14th minute of play forced Catarinense F.C.'s goalkeeper Benicio Gaitan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 16th minute, Lucas Etxepare hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Catarinense F.C.'s Aquilino Cortez got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 20 played minutes Catarinense F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Romeo Osorio. Enrique Gudesteo struck a weak shot in the 22nd minute. Benicio Gaitan didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Racing Club. Enrique Gudesteo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benicio Gaitan having to interfere. After 33 played minutes Racing Club got a freekick which was hit by Enrique Gudesteo. After a defensive mix-up in Racing Club's zone, Godfredo Gabon stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lino Salvator came out of the goal and Godfredo Gabon tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Catarinense F.C.'s Benicio Gaitan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by David Eguen in the 35th minute of play. Enrique Gudesteo received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Benicio Gaitan came out and tried to block the shot, but Enrique Gudesteo slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 37th minute. 43 minutes into the match, Racing Club's Enrique Gudesteo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Benicio Gaitan narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.
