Enrique Gudesteo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Murillo Cabral having to interfere. 15 minutes into the game, Enrique Gudesteo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Murillo Cabral was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 20 minutes into the match, Racing Club's goalkeeper Lino Salvator had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Wesley Carvalho. 27 minutes into the game, Wesley Carvalho cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Lino Salvator was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gildo Pernambucano during the 32nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 31 minutes into the game, one of BOTAFOGO:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 44th minute, Enrique Gudesteo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Murillo Cabral was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. Wesley Carvalho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Wesley Carvalho made a kick off. In the 51st minute, BOTAFOGO's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Victor Azeari fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. If Wesley Carvalho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Racing Club's Victorio Abascal was substituted for Enrique Gudesteo. The supporters of BOTAFOGO booed when Racing Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bruno Otsoko didn't get a good kick on the ball. Racing Club's Lino Salvator played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wesley Carvalho in the 65th minute of play. When Victor Azeari fell near the penalty area in the 65th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Racing Club's protests and gave Victor Azeari a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of BOTAFOGO booed when Racing Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Victor Azeari didn't get a good kick on the ball. Victorio Abascal struck a weak shot in the 72nd minute. Murillo Cabral didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Racing Club. After 75 played minutes Racing Club got a freekick which was hit by Victorio Abascal. If Victorio Abascal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 93 minutes, Victorio Abascal mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Racing Club and the BOTAFOGO players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 93rd match minute, Racing Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Victorio Abascal to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Racing Club getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Pedro Cheche hit a great ball.
