After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Serafim Sacadura managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gremio Viana's supporters rose to their feet, but Serafim Sacadura was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Falcão Monteiro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Falcão Monteiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlos Castilho in the 22nd minute of play. The referee felt a red card was in order, 47 minutes into the game, when Óscar Caldas put in a rough tackle. After 46 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Gremio Viana! In the 49th minute there was a penalty for TIMETER EC -DMZ-. Vito Velloso stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Eurico Figueira. 2-2. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
