The crowd rose to their feet as Imperio Catatumbo de Lara's Patricio Garviras slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Gilberto Abraão. That made the score 0-4 after 53 minutes of play. Imperio Catatumbo de Lara's Zoil Peregrin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by César Torres in the 55th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Armando Meira in the 86th minute of play forced Imperio Catatumbo de Lara's goalkeeper Zoil Peregrin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 88 minutes into the game, Fiori Ferraz cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-5. Zoil Peregrin was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Imperio Catatumbo de Lara eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
