The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 4 minutes, Camillo Salomone mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Maritek FC and the Attard Gunners players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 4th minute, Camillo Salomone hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Andrea Cilia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Florian Molinaro in the 13th minute of play. When Anthony Salamone fell near the penalty area in the 15th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Attard Gunners's protests and gave Anthony Salamone a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Attard Gunners getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Aurelio Marchegiani showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Robert Gera, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aurelio Cocca in the 22nd minute of play forced Attard Gunners's goalkeeper Andrea Cilia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Maritek FC were awarded a corner in the 24th minute after Attard Gunners's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Filippo Lucantoni took the corner. Neil Lia took the ball and in the 25 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Aurelio Marchegiani. Aurelio Marchegiani dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. With a little luck, Attard Gunners's Andrea Cilia got control of the ball when Arrigo Carulli tried to sneak it across the goal line. Andrea Cilia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Karl Grixti's late challenge caught a Maritek FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Karl Grixti helped the player get up and apologised. In the 76th match minute, Attard Gunners was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Karl Grixti to maneuver through the defense. Aurelio Cocca took the ball and in the 81 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Andrea Cilia. Andrea Cilia made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. After 93 minutes of play Maritek FC's Camillo Salomone was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 94th match minute, Maritek FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Camillo Salomone to maneuver through the defense. Beppe Bassani kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Maritek FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Attard Gunners had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
