Spectators: 145 (Terracing: 110, Seating: 33, VIP seats: 2) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Basílio do Valle started the match with the kick off. With a little luck, SE Palmeiras's Nilson Dracena got control of the ball when Hélder de Barros tried to sneak it across the goal line. Nelson Rocha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ian Cerezo in the 8th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Basílio do Valle in the 9th minute of play forced Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's goalkeeper Nelson Rocha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Basílio do Valle hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. SE Palmeiras's Nilson Dracena played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Raí Toledo in the 17th minute of play. In the 22nd minute Basílio do Valle shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nelson Rocha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nilson Dracena made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Richard do Vale in the 24th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Acácio Berger in the 26th minute of play forced SE Palmeiras's goalkeeper Nilson Dracena to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 27th minute, Benjamin Arce hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 28th minute Basílio do Valle shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nelson Rocha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 30 minutes, Didi Ramos mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SE Palmeiras and the Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 30th minute, Didi Ramos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 32nd minute, Perivaldo Salles managed to get in a good position for a shot. SE Palmeiras's supporters rose to their feet, but Perivaldo Salles was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nelson Rocha breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Nelson Rocha came out of the goal in the 33rd minute to try and stop a shot by SE Palmeiras's Basílio do Valle. But to his dismay, Basílio do Valle quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. SE Palmeiras's Nilson Dracena played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Raí Toledo in the 37th minute of play. In the 38th minute of the match, José Pedro de Senna tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Nilson Dracena saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 40th match minute, SE Palmeiras was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Didi Ramos to maneuver through the defense. Nilson Dracena made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Raí Toledo in the 41st minute of play. Nilson Dracena made a fantastic save in the 45th minute, when Richard do Vale sent off a good shot on target. In the 46th minute Basílio do Valle shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nelson Rocha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Hélder de Barros made a kick off. A collision led to Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Richard do Vale hit a great ball. In the 54th minute, Christiano Baiano got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 58 played minutes SE Palmeiras got a freekick which was hit by Décio Peixoto. Ian Cerezo might have been able to make a better finish in the 69th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nelson Rocha. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ian Cerezo ran back to his position shaking his head. After 70 played minutes Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ got a freekick which was hit by Hélder de Barros. With his leg Nelson Rocha managed to avoid a goal in the 74thth minute, when SE Palmeiras's Basílio do Valle fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Nilson Dracena showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Acácio Berger, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. The supporters of SE Palmeiras booed when Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Elder Tróia didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nelson Rocha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Basílio do Valle in the 89th minute of play. Nilson Dracena came out of the goal in the 91st minute to try and stop a shot by Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's Raí Toledo. But to his dismay, Raí Toledo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Nelson Rocha made a fantastic save in the 94th minute, when Basílio do Valle sent off a good shot on target. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
