But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Carlos Alberto Palmeira couldn't finish the play. The audience was convinced that Zeledon Hug's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Durvalino Donatello was relentless in the 5th minute of the game. After a rather tough play, 1947 FC's Alejandro Duarte got a free kick in the 11th minute. After some careless play in the Lunáticos FC defense, Abel Egoitz kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Durvalino Donatello. The Lunáticos FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Durvalino Donatello should have stopped the shot. In the 21st minute of the match Nestor Rolado sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Durvalino Donatello skillfully saved the ball. When Lunáticos FC's Anísio da Mata in the 24th minute got a chance for a shot 24th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye 1947 FC's goalie prevented a goal. In the 25th match minute, 1947 FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nestor Rolado to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, 1947 FC's Mauro Beccari got control of the ball when Carlos Alberto Palmeira tried to sneak it across the goal line. Mauro Beccari made an important save on a dangerous shot by Anísio da Mata in the 29th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zeledon Hug in the 39th minute of play forced Lunáticos FC's goalkeeper Durvalino Donatello to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 43rd minute, Damián Akerman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Durvalino Donatello made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Abel Egoitz in the 47th minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Anísio da Mata to strike the kick off in the second half. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Anísio da Mata in the 52nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Mauro Beccari prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Lunáticos FC's Durvalino Donatello proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 54th minute of the match, managed to save Lunáticos FC from getting a goal against them. When the match had gone on for 56 minutes, Zeledon Hug put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Durvalino Donatello. In the 64th match minute, Lunáticos FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ricardo Domingues to maneuver through the defense. 1947 FC's Silverio Loramendi got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Abel Egoitz in the 71st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Durvalino Donatello saved Lunáticos FC from getting behind. In the 94th minute, 1947 FC's Abel Egoitz ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Durvalino Donatello. Durvalino Donatello yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-4. When the final whistle went the supporters of 1947 FC were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant Lunáticos FC side.
