The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Los Golosos's Gervasio Montxo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Otávio Peixoto in the 10th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfredo Ordono in the 14th minute of play forced Clube Atl. Taquaritinga's goalkeeper Antônio Ferreira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Francisco Johans could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 16th minute of the match, but Antônio Ferreira made a huge save. Humberto Andrade might have been able to make a better finish in the 21st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gervasio Montxo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Humberto Andrade ran back to his position shaking his head. Gervasio Montxo came out of the goal in the 21st minute to try and stop a shot by Clube Atl. Taquaritinga's Humberto Andrade. But to his dismay, Humberto Andrade quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. After 24 minutes of play, Clube Atl. Taquaritinga's Carlinhos Baiano made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gervasio Montxo was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 27th minute Humberto Andrade shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gervasio Montxo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gervasio Montxo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carlinhos Baiano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 33 played minutes Los Golosos got a freekick which was hit by Alfredo Ordono. Délio Coelho kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. Gervasio Montxo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Victor Berger in the 36th minute of play. Otávio Peixoto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cafu de Amorim's late challenge caught a Los Golosos's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cafu de Amorim helped the player get up and apologised. In the 46th minute, Cafu de Amorim hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Antônio Ferreira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bernabe Tallia in the 48th minute of the match.

Gervasio Montxo made a fantastic save in the 51st minute, when Délio Coelho sent off a good shot on target. Clube Atl. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Gervasio Montxo showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The referee felt a red card was in order, 66 minutes into the game, when Domingo Nikola put in a rough tackle. Domingo Nikola hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. Gervasio Montxo came out of the goal in the 70th minute to try and stop a shot by Clube Atl. Taquaritinga's Délio Coelho. But to his dismay, Délio Coelho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. 75 minutes into the game, Otávio Peixoto was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Clube Atl. Taquaritinga's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Los Golosos the free kick. After 75 played minutes Clube Atl. Taquaritinga got a freekick which was hit by Otávio Peixoto. An unexpectedly hard shot by Francisco Johans in the 78th minute of play forced Clube Atl. Taquaritinga's goalkeeper Antônio Ferreira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Clube Atl. Taquaritinga getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Frédson Sarmento hit a great ball. In the 80th minute, Alfredo Ordono left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Los Golosos fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-4.
