Shawn Cruz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rolando Ortiz in the 17th minute of play forced LA VIOLA's goalkeeper Niclas Svanberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 25 minutes into the match, LA VIOLA's goal looked a bit too open when Rolando Ortiz came free, but Niclas Svanberg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Niclas Svanberg showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wilmer Gutierrez in the 27th minute of the match. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Håkan Dalberg hit a great freekick 50 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Rolando Ortiz in the 52nd managed to get into a good position. LA VIOLA's Niclas Svanberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rolando Ortiz in the 56th minute of play. A collision led to LA VIOLA getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Manfred Josefsson hit a great ball. After 59 played minutes LA VIOLA got a freekick which was hit by Manfred Josefsson. Shawn Cruz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tommy Dahlkvist, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of LA VIOLA booed when Real Madrid de Guatemala was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ulises Palma didn't get a good kick on the ball. LA VIOLA succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Real Madrid de Guatemala had controlled the match.
