Palmeiras's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Ademir Senna could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 11th minute of the match, but Enrico Eleuteri made a huge save. Armando da Mata might have been able to make a better finish in the 15th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Enrico Eleuteri. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Armando da Mata ran back to his position shaking his head. Cesano Boscone's defense didn't have a chance, in the 39th minute, when Caco Monteiro scored to the left of an out of position Enrico Eleuteri, making the score, 2-1. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Davide Zoff made a kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Téo Trancoso during the 51st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 52nd minute Damiano Maldini shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Márcio Freitas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dario Oberrauch fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Márcio Freitas having to interfere.
