The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the match, Wellington Phoenix's goalkeeper Benedito Silveira had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lucio Ixidor. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mazinho Baptista in the 8th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julian Favila saved ATLETICO TOSODELMA from getting behind. Julian Favila made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mazinho Baptista in the 16th minute of play. ATLETICO TOSODELMA's Julian Favila played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gustavo Zonta in the 18th minute of play. Julian Favila took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gustavo Zonta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Domingo Larra charged in rather forcefully in the 23rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Domingo Larra the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Mazinho Baptista to make the kick off. The audience was convinced that Amadeu Maranhense's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julian Favila was relentless in the 56th minute of the game. When Marcelino Ferrando fell near the penalty area in the 58th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored ATLETICO TOSODELMA's protests and gave Marcelino Ferrando a yellow card for diving instead. Marcelino Ferrando hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. Julian Favila made a fantastic save in the 86th minute, when Gil Cardoso sent off a good shot on target. Julian Favila stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Mazinho Baptista's shot from short distance in the 92nd minute. Mazinho Baptista in the 95thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Julian Favila, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Mazinho Baptista recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 97th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Wellington Phoenix eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
