Maximino Fidensio came out of the goal in the 5th minute to try and stop a shot by Sydney FC's Ernst Schnur. But to his dismay, Ernst Schnur quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Sydney FC's Jaden Krieglmeier pulled a muscle in his back after 15 minutes and couldn't finish the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Benedicto Bakar during the 15th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 17 played minutes Atletic Elooo got a freekick which was hit by Benedicto Bakar. In the 18th minute of the match Adnan Tilner shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Maximino Fidensio showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 20th minute Kees Plappert shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Maximino Fidensio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 23 minutes into the game, Gabriel Michel was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sydney FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Atletic Elooo the free kick. Gabriel Michel hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. Maximino Fidensio was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After the first half Sydney FC were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Severiano Belasko made the kick off in the second half. Benedicto Martxel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Florian Guderian having to interfere. If Benedicto Martxel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Pierre Möhn's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Maximino Fidensio read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 59th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 61 minutes, Severiano Belasko put it in 1-2 from a short distance just to the right of Florian Guderian. Maximino Fidensio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ernst Schnur, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. 71 minutes into the match, Sydney FC's goal looked a bit too open when Severiano Belasko came free, but Florian Guderian reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match had gone on for 72 minutes, Pierre Möhn put it in 1-3 from a short distance just to the right of Maximino Fidensio. An unexpectedly hard shot by Severiano Belasko in the 81st minute of play forced Sydney FC's goalkeeper Florian Guderian to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 85th minute Sydney FC were awarded a corner. Adnan Tilner went to the cornerflag to take it.
