Curcio Amer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tadeusz Cielencki having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cezary Madajczyk in the 22nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Manolo Ucero saved PERSPOLIS from getting behind. Kryspin Rutecki took the ball and in the 23 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Manolo Ucero. Manolo Ucero dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. A collision led to PERSPOLIS getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Guter Lama hit a great ball. Gaston Delgado scored 2-1 in the 28th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Tadeusz Cielencki, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 31 minutes into the match, Gaston Delgado had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tadeusz Cielencki. Arsenal's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gaston Delgado was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. PERSPOLIS's Xuaco Otero shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 35th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Tadeusz Cielencki but with some difficulty. Tanek Gierasik hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. Tadeusz Cielencki made a fantastic save in the 42nd minute, when Eladio Teresa sent off a good shot on target. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cezary Madajczyk in the 44th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Manolo Ucero prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 46 minutes, Curcio Amer mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the PERSPOLIS and the Arsenal players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 46th minute, Curcio Amer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-1.

The wind increased when Gaston Delgado made the kick off in the second half. Tadeusz Cielencki made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gaston Delgado in the 52nd minute of play. After 55 played minutes PERSPOLIS got a freekick which was hit by Benat Castelao. Manolo Ucero made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cezary Madajczyk in the 56th minute. PERSPOLIS's Manolo Ucero played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tanek Gierasik in the 59th minute of play. Wladyslaw Lampa kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. 64 minutes into the match, Arsenal's goal looked a bit too open when Curcio Amer came free, but Tadeusz Cielencki reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, PERSPOLIS's Eladio Teresa got a free kick in the 66th minute. When Andrzej Madajczyk came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Arsenal fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Andrzej Madajczyk couldn't finish the play. 71 minutes into the match, Arsenal's goal looked a bit too open when Gaston Delgado came free, but Tadeusz Cielencki reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tadeusz Cielencki showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eladio Teresa in the 72nd minute of the match. If Curcio Amer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to PERSPOLIS getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Xuaco Otero hit a great ball. Gaston Delgado might have been able to make a better finish in the 83rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Tadeusz Cielencki. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gaston Delgado ran back to his position shaking his head. 87 minutes into the match, PERSPOLIS's goalkeeper Manolo Ucero had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cezary Madajczyk. Eladio Teresa struck a weak shot in the 90th minute. Tadeusz Cielencki didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for PERSPOLIS. Tadeusz Cielencki took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gaston Delgado, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
