Fernando Martins kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. Hermengildo Arotza didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Celsinho de Sousa went, in the 45th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. After the first half Motta Futebol Clube were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 79thth minute of the game João Carlos Correia who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Academia Club's Hermengildo Arotza was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Thanks to some nice moves Celsinho de Sousa could shoot a difficult shot in the 81st minute, which Hermengildo Arotza however easily saved by the left post. When Fernando Martins fell near the penalty area in the 81st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Motta Futebol Clube's protests and gave Fernando Martins a yellow card for diving instead. After 82 played minutes Motta Futebol Clube got a freekick which was hit by Fernando Martins. 90 minutes into the match, Academia Club's goal looked a bit too open when Fabrício Queirós came free, but Hermengildo Arotza reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Hermengildo Arotza took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from João Carlos Correia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
