Clube Esportivo Saudade's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Txomin Suarez in the 6th minute. 9 minutes into the match, Clube Esportivo Saudade's goal looked a bit too open when Fredrik Wijgaert came free, but Machado Nieto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the Clube Esportivo Saudade defense, Fredrik Wijgaert kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Machado Nieto. The Clube Esportivo Saudade fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Machado Nieto should have stopped the shot. Eleodoro Cayuela hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. After 22 played minutes Clube Esportivo Saudade got a freekick which was hit by Lucas Palacios. After having played for 26 minutes, Ryan Wuets managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Club Brugge's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ryan Wuets was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Clube Esportivo Saudade's Eleodoro Cayuela in the 29th minute got a chance for a shot 29th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Jef De Langhe breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jef De Langhe took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eleodoro Cayuela, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jef De Langhe was out of position in the 37 minute of play, and Eleodoro Cayuela capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Eleodoro Cayuela really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. After 41 played minutes Club Brugge got a freekick which was hit by Ryan Wuets. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

A collision led to Club Brugge getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Godfried Van der Sande hit a great ball. When Eleodoro Cayuela came up free with the goalie in the 52nd minute, the Clube Esportivo Saudade fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eleodoro Cayuela couldn't finish the play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Eleodoro Cayuela in the 58th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jef De Langhe saved Club Brugge from getting behind. The supporters of Clube Esportivo Saudade booed when Club Brugge was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kristiaan Van Der Eyde didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 60th minute, Txomin Suarez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With an all-out effort, Club Brugge's Machado Nieto threw himself towards the right post 61 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Sylven Van der Meiren, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 64th minute of the match, Fredrik Wijgaert got a very nice opportunity to score, but Machado Nieto was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. After 67 played minutes Clube Esportivo Saudade got a freekick which was hit by Renaldo Jauregui. In the 68th minute, Fredrik Wijgaert got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Machado Nieto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sylven Van der Meiren in the 76th minute of the match. Eleodoro Cayuela recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ryan Wuets kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. In the 86th minute Eleodoro Cayuela shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jef De Langhe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Club Brugge's Jarno Leemans got a free kick in the 87th minute. In the 90thth minute of the game Eleodoro Cayuela who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Club Brugge's Jef De Langhe was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball.
