When Mathias Linares fell near the penalty area in the 8th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored BRASIL.Sp's protests and gave Mathias Linares a yellow card for diving instead. New York Red Bulls made a substitution. Cristinel Corduneanu replaced Cezar Ailenei. A collision led to BRASIL.Sp getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Mathias Linares hit a great ball. Hermínio Neiva blasted a shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Cornel Cartiș having to make a save. 34 minutes into the match, New York Red Bulls's goal looked a bit too open when Jerônimo de Salles came free, but Cornel Cartiș reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 35th minute Ian Martins shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cornel Cartiș saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cornel Cartiș took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ian Martins, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Hermínio Neiva kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. Petrică Negreanu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gildo Nogueira having to interfere. Vasile Baicea sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Vasile Baicea to strike the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the game, Horácio Ferraz was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. BRASIL.Sp's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave New York Red Bulls the free kick. In the 53rd match minute, BRASIL.Sp was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Horácio Ferraz to maneuver through the defense. In the 53rd minute Vasile Baicea shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gildo Nogueira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 56th minute, Celsinho Porto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 57th minute of the match Vasile Baicea shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Gildo Nogueira showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After 57 played minutes BRASIL.Sp got a freekick which was hit by Ian Martins. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristinel Corduneanu in the 58th minute of play forced BRASIL.Sp's goalkeeper Gildo Nogueira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ian Martins got free with Cornel Cartiș in the 59th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Hermínio Neiva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 63 minutes into the match, New York Red Bulls's goalkeeper Cornel Cartiș had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jean Simões. After 64 minutes, Martin Galiceanu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the New York Red Bulls and the BRASIL.Sp players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 64th minute, Martin Galiceanu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 67th minute, Hermínio Neiva made a precise shot to the right of Cornel Cartiș. New York Red Bulls's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. New York Red Bulls's Cornel Cartiș played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hermínio Neiva in the 69th minute of play. A well placed Hermínio Neiva short distance shot in the 70th minute ended with a hard ball which without a chance for the goalkeeper went staright up into the goalkeepers left cross. In the 73rd minute Ian Martins shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cornel Cartiș saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Horácio Ferraz took the ball and in the 74 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Cornel Cartiș. Cornel Cartiș dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. 81 minutes into the game, Ian Martins recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Cornel Cartiș. Ian Martins showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-4. Through an outstanding action, after 86 minutes, Cornel Cartiș successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. New York Red Bulls's Cornel Cartiș played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hermínio Neiva in the 87th minute of play. If Ian Martins had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of New York Red Bulls booed when BRASIL.Sp was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hermínio Neiva didn't get a good kick on the ball. BRASIL.Sp's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
