The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Haroldo Bocaran made a fantastic save in the 5th minute, when Alessandro Mandrak sent off a good shot on target. Haroldo Bocaran was a little too slow when Ramiro Rosado got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 9th minute. The score was now 1-0. Haroldo Bocaran made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ramiro Rosado in the 11th minute. In the 16th match minute, Club Olimpia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eutor Dosal to maneuver through the defense. Toli Buron was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 18 minutes into the match. In the 18th minute, one of Club Olimpia:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Club Olimpia. If Alessandro Mandrak had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 36 played minutes Várzea F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Bruninho Arósio. After 37 played minutes, Club Olimpia's Eutor Dosal shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Serafim Mesquita came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Club Olimpia reached it. Bruninho Arósio charged in rather forcefully in the 39th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bruninho Arósio the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Club Olimpia booed when Várzea F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 48 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alessandro Mandrak didn't get a good kick on the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Cordarrol Tama made a kick off. Alessandro Mandrak sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Várzea F.C. getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Marcelinho da Rocha hit a great ball. Dodorol Mendibuey fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Serafim Mesquita having to interfere. After 69 played minutes Várzea F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Alessandro Mandrak. Club Olimpia's Haroldo Bocaran played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alessandro Mandrak in the 72nd minute of play. In the 74th minute Alessandro Mandrak shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Haroldo Bocaran saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 76th minute, Alessandro Mandrak made a precise shot to the right of Haroldo Bocaran. Club Olimpia's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. After 87 played minutes Várzea F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Ramiro Rosado. Dodorol Mendibuey could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 89th minute of the match, but Serafim Mesquita made a huge save. Marcelinho da Rocha kicked well hit freekick during the 90th minute of the match. Lugo Zaton took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 90th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Serafim Mesquita. Várzea F.C.'s goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. For all the effort they put into the match, the Club Olimpia players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Várzea F.C..
