After a rather tough play, ≮王者归来≯日本浦和红宝石's 雷康辉 got a free kick in the 20th minute. 孙朋骋 showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dries Dirckx in the 21st minute of the match. In the 28th minute, Samuel Vervoort hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Brugge United's Dries Dirckx in the 35th minute got a chance for a shot 35th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. But to his dismay, Christian Meys quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-0. Christian Meys's late challenge caught a ≮王者归来≯日本浦和红宝石's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Christian Meys helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of ≮王者归来≯日本浦和红宝石 booed when Brugge United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Christian Meys didn't get a good kick on the ball.
