If Serter Çağnur had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hertha 1969's Alf Kleinert played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Artaç Dalmaz in the 4th minute of play. Andi Godescheid kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. Çağan Demren took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 9th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Alf Kleinert. Hertha 1969's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Artaç Dalmaz in the 11th minute of play forced Hertha 1969's goalkeeper Alf Kleinert to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Fabian Struzyna charged in rather forcefully in the 12th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Fabian Struzyna the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Hertha 1969 getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Fabian Struzyna hit a great ball. 19 minutes into the match, Karsten Wolsch dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Kahraman Kunter, 1-0. 27 minutes into the match, Lokomotiv Bornova's goal looked a bit too open when Lutz Ertel came free, but Kahraman Kunter reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Andi Godescheid had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 32 minutes, Çağan Demren mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Lokomotiv Bornova and the Hertha 1969 players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Hertha 1969 booed when Lokomotiv Bornova was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Çağan Demren didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kahraman Kunter was out of position in the 37 minute of play, and Lutz Ertel capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Lutz Ertel really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. Kahraman Kunter took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lutz Ertel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lokomotiv Bornova's Kahraman Kunter played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lutz Ertel in the 48th minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Artaç Dalmaz to strike the kick off in the second half. When the match had gone on for 55 minutes, Andi Godescheid put it in 3-0 from a short distance just to the right of Kahraman Kunter. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Lutz Ertel in the 59th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Kahraman Kunter prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Kahraman Kunter showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Karsten Wolsch, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. After a rather tough play, Lokomotiv Bornova's Mehmet Fatih Özakay got a free kick in the 67th minute. Andi Godescheid sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 79 minutes into the match, Hertha 1969's Lutz Ertel sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Kahraman Kunter narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Karsten Wolsch struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute. Kahraman Kunter didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hertha 1969. In the 83rd minute, Lutz Ertel ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Kahraman Kunter was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-0. Lutz Ertel took the ball and in the 89 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Kahraman Kunter. Kahraman Kunter dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-0. When Anton Aicher came up free with the goalie in the 92nd minute, the Hertha 1969 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Anton Aicher couldn't finish the play. Harry Rupp sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Hertha 1969 fully deserved thier win.
