Délio Alvarenga hit a great ball. In the 4th minute the ball was on its way in behind AF CERRADO's goalkeeper Gil Seco, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The crowd rose to their feet as Erivaldo Paraibano kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Gil Seco. That made the score 1-0 in the 8 minute of play. The supporters of AF CERRADO booed when Coritiba Foot Ball Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Belmiro Cordeiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gil Seco made a fantastic save in the 43rd minute, when Marcelo Goiano sent off a good shot on target. When Erivaldo Paraibano came up free with the goalie in the 48th minute, the Coritiba Foot Ball Club fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Erivaldo Paraibano couldn't finish the play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-2 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Lino Araújo made a kick off. After 54 minutes, Cacá Vaz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the AF CERRADO and the Coritiba Foot Ball Club players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 90th match minute, Coritiba Foot Ball Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Remo do Valle to maneuver through the defense. If Délio Alvarenga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. AF CERRADO's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
