The Owls's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Clube Audax Metropolitano the free kick. A collision led to The Owls getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Iustin Chira hit a great ball. 6 minutes into the match, Clube Audax Metropolitano's Miguel Fontes sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ion Crivac narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a rather tough play, The Owls's Iustin Chira got a free kick in the 7th minute. Wesley Cruz kicked well hit freekick during the 10th minute of the match. Ion Crivac showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luís Paulo Maia in the 12th minute of the match. Ion Crivac took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luís Paulo Maia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The The Owls fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ion Crivac should have stopped the shot. Luís Paulo Maia recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 34th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ion Crivac made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Miguel Fontes in the 35th minute of play. The supporters of The Owls booed when Clube Audax Metropolitano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ulysses Recife didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Liviu Huștea had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nicodim Tăcutu who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 47thth minute tested the skills of Falcão Severo when he managed to save the team from getting behind.

The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ulysses Recife during the 51st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 52nd minute, Ulysses Recife hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The Owls's Traian Arsene got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 57 minutes into the match, Clube Audax Metropolitano's goal looked a bit too open when Liviu Huștea came free, but Falcão Severo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Falcão Severo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nicodim Tăcutu, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. In the 61st match minute, Clube Audax Metropolitano was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zé Paulo de Lara to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Clube Audax Metropolitano booed when The Owls was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Liviu Huștea didn't get a good kick on the ball. The The Owls supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Clube Audax Metropolitano's performance.
