Sertaç Akaydın was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The supporters of Republica Ploiești booed when FC KALELİ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Galip Tümkurt didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Göksel Saruca in the 16th minute of play forced Republica Ploiești's goalkeeper Pompiliu Hâncu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 16th match minute, Republica Ploiești was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by George Ivăncioiu to maneuver through the defense. 19 minutes into the game, Costică Barbu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Republica Ploiești's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC KALELİ the free kick. Pompiliu Hâncu made a fantastic save in the 21st minute, when Onuralp Keskiner sent off a good shot on target. When FC KALELİ's Göksel Saruca, in the 27th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for FC KALELİ. With a little luck, Republica Ploiești's Pompiliu Hâncu got control of the ball when Göksel Saruca tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Galip Tümkurt fell near the penalty area in the 32nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC KALELİ's protests and gave Galip Tümkurt a yellow card for diving instead. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Onuralp Keskiner to make the kick off. Onuralp Keskiner's late challenge caught a Republica Ploiești's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Onuralp Keskiner helped the player get up and apologised. After 55 played minutes FC KALELİ got a freekick which was hit by Onuralp Keskiner. FC KALELİ's Suat Akağan pulled a muscle in his back after 58 minutes and couldn't finish the game. FC KALELİ's Semih Şentürk was substituted for Suat Akağan. After a rather tough play, Republica Ploiești's Lucian Luțu got a free kick in the 59th minute. Pompiliu Hâncu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Onuralp Keskiner, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. A collision led to Republica Ploiești getting a freekick after 62 minutes play. Costică Barbu hit a great ball. If Göksel Saruca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Pompiliu Hâncu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Onuralp Keskiner, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 70th minute, George Ivăncioiu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 71st minute of the match Lokman Uyar sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Pompiliu Hâncu skillfully saved the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ali Orhan Ergenç during the 78th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 78th match minute, FC KALELİ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ali Orhan Ergenç to maneuver through the defense. Luca Gavrilescu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Claudiu Moscu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 90th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Pompiliu Hâncu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Göksel Saruca went, in the 95th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The FC KALELİ fans cheered their team off the field, for while Republica Ploiești had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
