After some fancy dribbling in the 24th minute, Felipe Jaramillo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Egídio Reis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Felipe Jaramillo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 39th minute the ball was on its way in behind BRUGGE FC's goalkeeper Gualterio Trancoso, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Felipe Jaramillo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tarcisio Baptista was the one to do the kick off. Thanks to some nice moves Tarcisio Baptista could shoot a difficult shot in the 55th minute, which Gualterio Trancoso however easily saved by the left post. Leões do Sul 53's Egídio Reis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felipe Jaramillo in the 56th minute of play. Egídio Reis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ronaldo Albar, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. Dei Henriquez lost his temper 70 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card.
