Seating: 36, VIP seats: 3) North Pole Kickers's Sverker Engström started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Egil Åkerman showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Steff Winnepenninck in the 3rd minute of the match. After 6 played minutes North Pole Kickers got a freekick which was hit by Lars Asserlind. 7 minutes into the match, Steff Winnepenninck had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Egil Åkerman. North Pole Kickers's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Steff Winnepenninck was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. After 10 played minutes Genk got a freekick which was hit by Rolf Schoovaerts. In the 13th minute, North Pole Kickers's Anton Johnsson seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Anton Johnsson the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of North Pole Kickers protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Anton Johnsson had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. North Pole Kickers:s Egil Åkerman showed great skill when he stopped Ivo De Backer:s penalty. 17 minutes into the match, Sverker Engström had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jordi Peten. Genk's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sverker Engström was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sverker Engström in the 21st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jordi Peten prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Steff Winnepenninck's late challenge caught a North Pole Kickers's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Steff Winnepenninck helped the player get up and apologised. When Rolf Schoovaerts fell near the penalty area in the 31st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Genk's protests and gave Rolf Schoovaerts a yellow card for diving instead. In a very dangerous position, a player in Genk fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 31st minute. Penalty! When the match had been going on for 32 minutes, North Pole Kickers's Lars Asserlind got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Jordi Peten. Robby de Koninck hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. A collision led to Genk getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Pierre-Alexandre Dewolf hit a great ball. Egil Åkerman took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ivo De Backer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Joris Tijs scored 2-2 in the 47th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Egil Åkerman, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ivo De Backer was the one to do the kick off. A collision led to Genk getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Rolf Schoovaerts hit a great ball. In the 55th minute, Genk's Tommi Renso seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Tommi Renso the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Genk protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Tommi Renso had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 55th minute, one of Genk:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Genk. Jordi Peten had in the 57thth minute some difficulties stopping Lars Asserlind's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Jordi Peten showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sverker Engström, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. Christoffer Västerstrand took the ball and in the 61 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jordi Peten. Jordi Peten dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-2. If Steff Winnepenninck had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in North Pole Kickers's zone, Joris Tijs stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Egil Åkerman came out of the goal and Joris Tijs tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sverker Engström in the 70th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jordi Peten prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Joris Tijs sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Egil Åkerman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Steff Winnepenninck in the 80th minute of play. North Pole Kickers were awarded a corner in the 83th minute after Genk's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Lars Asserlind took the corner. North Pole Kickers's Sverker Engström was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Jordi Peten in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 88thth minute of the game Pierre-Alexandre Dewolf who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but North Pole Kickers's Egil Åkerman was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Lars Asserlind kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match.
