Manos Papaiakovou made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Motiejus Saudargis in the 7th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Panagiotis Bourousis in the 12th minute of play forced FK Mintis Vilnius's goalkeeper Gvidonas Jakimavičius to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Go Ahead Eagles's zone, Almantas Baltramaitis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Manos Papaiakovou came out of the goal and Almantas Baltramaitis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 16th minute, Panagiotis Bourousis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 18 minutes into the match, Almantas Baltramaitis had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Manos Papaiakovou. Go Ahead Eagles's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Almantas Baltramaitis was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. After 22 minutes, Alvydas Marcinkus mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FK Mintis Vilnius and the Go Ahead Eagles players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to FK Mintis Vilnius getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Alvydas Marcinkus hit a great ball. Gvidonas Jakimavičius came out of the goal in the 24th minute to try and stop a shot by Go Ahead Eagles's Giotis Kouloucheris. But to his dismay, Giotis Kouloucheris quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Motiejus Saudargis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Manos Papaiakovou tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Go Ahead Eagles booed when FK Mintis Vilnius was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Emilis Laivys didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 40 minutes of play, FK Mintis Vilnius's Almantas Baltramaitis made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Manos Papaiakovou was left in no man's land by his defense there! 48 minutes into the match, Go Ahead Eagles's goal looked a bit too open when Bernardas Gadliauskas came free, but Manos Papaiakovou reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Almantas Baltramaitis to make the kick off. 51 minutes into the game, Hubertas Urniežius was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FK Mintis Vilnius's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Go Ahead Eagles the free kick. After 51 played minutes FK Mintis Vilnius got a freekick which was hit by Hubertas Urniežius. A hard shot by Ntinos Vounatsos from long distance, 52 minutes into the match, got Gvidonas Jakimavičius's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. In the 62nd match minute, Go Ahead Eagles was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Panagiotis Beloukas to maneuver through the defense. Almantas Baltramaitis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. FK Mintis Vilnius's Gvidonas Jakimavičius played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Giotis Kouloucheris in the 71st minute of play. Manos Papaiakovou showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Almantas Baltramaitis, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. Almantas Baltramaitis hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Go Ahead Eagles's Panagiotis Bourousis slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Gvidonas Jakimavičius. That made the score 2-2 after 83 minutes of play. Bernardas Gadliauskas's late challenge caught a Go Ahead Eagles's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bernardas Gadliauskas helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, FK Mintis Vilnius's Bernardas Gadliauskas got a free kick in the 85th minute. Manos Papaiakovou came out of the goal in the 93rd minute to try and stop a shot by FK Mintis Vilnius's Almantas Baltramaitis. But to his dismay, Almantas Baltramaitis quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-2. Go Ahead Eagles's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
