Fergus Fairbairn made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-6. Fergus Fairbairn showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aurelian Odobescu in the 59th minute of the match. Cristi Ciprian received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Fergus Fairbairn came out and tried to block the shot, but Cristi Ciprian slotted it home off the left post making it 1-10 in the 74th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sever Crăiniceanu got free with Fergus Fairbairn in the 88th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to Rangers FC getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Tim Charles hit a great ball. Patrick Sporran hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. Fergus Fairbairn made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristi Ciprian in the 98th minute of play.
