After having played for 72 minutes, Zé Pedro Baptista managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Inter de Guayaquil FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Zé Pedro Baptista was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jörn Svartengren might have been able to make a better finish in the 75th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Wieslaw Pinczewski. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Inter de Guayaquil FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lorenzo Acutain was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Inter de Guayaquil FC fully deserved thier win.
