Conrad Carrington scored 1-0 in the 9th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Gaetano Mathieu, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After some careless play in the C. A. Independiente defense, Hugo Bakker kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Miguel Ángel Santoro. The C. A. Independiente fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Miguel Ángel Santoro should have stopped the shot. 20 minutes into the match, Resistencia's goalkeeper Gaetano Mathieu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Conrad Carrington. The audience was convinced that Xu Yun Quan's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gaetano Mathieu was relentless in the 25th minute of the game. Miguel Ángel Santoro didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Resistencia's Hugo Bakker shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 1-2 in the ordered_time% minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Conrad Carrington got free with Gaetano Mathieu in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The Resistencia fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. Freddy Sabin might have been able to make a better finish in the 38th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Miguel Ángel Santoro. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Freddy Sabin ran back to his position shaking his head. 40 minutes into the match, C. A. Independiente's goal looked a bit too open when Freddy Sabin came free, but Miguel Ángel Santoro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Miguel Ángel Santoro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hugo Bakker, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 47 minutes into the game, Resistencia's Freddy Sabin nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Miguel Ángel Santoro made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-4. After the first half Resistencia were leading 1-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Freddy Sabin made a kick off. 53 minutes into the match, C. A. Independiente's goal looked a bit too open when Freddy Sabin came free, but Miguel Ángel Santoro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 53rd minute, Freddy Sabin ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Miguel Ángel Santoro was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-5. In the 56thth minute of the game Xu Yun Quan who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Resistencia's Gaetano Mathieu was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Freddy Sabin in the 58th minute of play forced C. A. Independiente's goalkeeper Miguel Ángel Santoro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Conrad Carrington in the 59th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gaetano Mathieu saved Resistencia from getting behind. 61 minutes into the match, C. A. Independiente's goalkeeper Miguel Ángel Santoro had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Hugo Bakker. An unexpectedly hard shot by Freddy Sabin in the 66th minute of play forced C. A. Independiente's goalkeeper Miguel Ángel Santoro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Hugo Bakker came up free with the goalie in the 70th minute, the Resistencia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hugo Bakker couldn't finish the play. Hugo Bakker received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Miguel Ángel Santoro came out and tried to block the shot, but Hugo Bakker slotted it home off the left post making it 1-6 in the 71st minute. Wallace Whatley made in the 77th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Gregg Hannah immediately put the ball in play. After having played for 79 minutes, Freddy Sabin managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Resistencia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Freddy Sabin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 81 minutes into the game, Freddy Sabin recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Miguel Ángel Santoro. Freddy Sabin showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-7. In the 90th minute Freddy Sabin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Miguel Ángel Santoro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Miguel Ángel Santoro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Freddy Sabin in the 91st minute of the match. In the 93rd minute Freddy Sabin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Miguel Ángel Santoro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Resistencia's attentive Genaro Illan managed to snatch the ball when Wallace Whatley made a throw-in in the 94th minute of the game. 95 minutes into the match, Hugo Bakker notched a goal, 1-9, to the right of C. A. Independiente's Miguel Ángel Santoro. Miguel Ángel Santoro was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The C. A. Independiente fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Resistencia were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
