Aaron Smallwood took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gerardo Abeitia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 11 minutes into the match, Santos FC's goal looked a bit too open when Tom Beaune came free, but Aaron Smallwood reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 13th minute Cesar Small shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Guy Durant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 15th minute Mathias Lecanu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aaron Smallwood saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Guy Durant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tyron Velasquez in the 17th minute of play. Mathias Lecanu kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. When Santos FC's Lanny Gilmore, in the 20th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Santos FC. Lyon 69ers's Guy Durant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lanny Gilmore in the 31st minute of play. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Anatol Hönes to strike the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the game, Tom Beaune cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Aaron Smallwood was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 55 minutes had been played when some careless play by Santos FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Slaveyko Grúbchev was slow to take the kick. During this time Lyon 69ers's players had a chance to rest. After a rather tough play, Lyon 69ers's Tom Beaune got a free kick in the 55th minute. With an all-out effort, Santos FC's Guy Durant threw himself towards the right post 57 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Tyron Velasquez, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Guy Durant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tyron Velasquez in the 63rd minute of the match. In the 66th minute of the match Lyon 69ers got a corner. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
