Teodosio Sergi didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Trendafil Tashevski went, in the 4th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. 13 minutes into the game, Velez Sarsfield's Augusto Cordario nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Thomas Sørensen made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. 21 minutes into the game, Olliver Van Meirhaeghe cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Thomas Sørensen was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Zahari Kiratzov hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. With a little luck, FC Grivata's Thomas Sørensen got control of the ball when Augusto Cordario tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ronan Mistral kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Slavey Kozovski during the 31st minute. Augusto Cordario's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Thomas Sørensen read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 40th minute of play. Patryk Janiczek made in the 42nd minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Velez Sarsfield's Marcos Pacifico. After a rather tough play, Velez Sarsfield's Augusto Cordario got a free kick in the 43rd minute. A nice corner shot did that Antonio Dino got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Teodosio Sergi quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Lyuben Dimiev made the kick off in the second half. Teodosio Sergi was a little too slow when Slavey Kozovski got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 51st minute. The score was now 3-3. After a rather tough play, FC Grivata's Ancho Sakarski got a free kick in the 56th minute. FC Grivata's Thomas Sørensen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Augusto Cordario in the 57th minute of play. When Augusto Cordario fell near the penalty area in the 58th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Velez Sarsfield's protests and gave Augusto Cordario a yellow card for diving instead. Patryk Janiczek charged in rather forcefully in the 60th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Patryk Janiczek the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Patryk Janiczek kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. 62 minutes had been played when some careless play by FC Grivata's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. FC Grivata's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Velez Sarsfield the free kick. Milcho Zhalov made in the 65th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Antonio Dino immediately put the ball in play. Thomas Sørensen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Augusto Cordario in the 69th minute of play. Teodosio Sergi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Trendafil Tashevski in the 76th minute of play. Augusto Cordario ran back to his position shaking his head. 88 minutes into the match, Velez Sarsfield's Augusto Cordario sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Thomas Sørensen narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 95th minute Augusto Cordario shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thomas Sørensen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. For all the effort they put into the match, the FC Grivata players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Velez Sarsfield.
