When Mirko Stuijvenberg came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the ASC South United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mirko Stuijvenberg couldn't finish the play. The supporters of GrondofiSu FC booed when ASC South United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cees Hermensen didn't get a good kick on the ball. Erwin Teesing took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Enrique Ramirez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Andreas Tamminga hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Eustaquio Laurendi in the 26th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Erwin Teesing prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Wesley Eringa during the 29th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The corner ended in Eugène Meissonnier almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but ASC South United's Erwin Teesing did a great save. A collision led to ASC South United getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Rolf van der Saar hit a great ball. Rolf van der Saar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Isidoro Gonzales having to interfere.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Rolf van der Saar to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute Miguel Berbiz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erwin Teesing saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Eustaquio Laurendi could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 55th minute of the match, but Erwin Teesing made a huge save. Miguel Berbiz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. GrondofiSu FC's Osvaldo Infante got a good chance for a goal in the 94th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Miguel Berbiz might have been able to make a better finish in the 95th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Erwin Teesing. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Miguel Berbiz ran back to his position shaking his head. GrondofiSu FC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
