PaoK Neapoleos's Isidoros Tsagarakis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leopoldo Loureiro in the 5th minute of play. Igor Taffarel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Panagiotis Psaris, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 8 minutes into the match, Davi Dal Bello notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of PaoK Neapoleos's Isidoros Tsagarakis. Isidoros Tsagarakis was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 11 minutes into the game, one of PaoK Neapoleos:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Leopoldo Loureiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Isidoros Tsagarakis having to interfere. Davi Dal Bello's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Isidoros Tsagarakis read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 21st minute of play. In the 22nd minute of the match, Davi Dal Bello tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Isidoros Tsagarakis saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line.
