The supporters of Leicester Lions booed when ♙Fluminense Campéon 23♙ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leandro Trancoso didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Erasmo Cardoso in the 12th minute of play forced Leicester Lions's goalkeeper Grant Blacknell to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. ♙Fluminense Campéon 23♙'s Ramón Abreu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Camron Rhodes in the 14th minute of play. Grant Blacknell made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. 27 minutes into the match, Erasmo Cardoso had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Grant Blacknell. Leicester Lions's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Erasmo Cardoso was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. In the 30th minute Erasmo Cardoso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Grant Blacknell saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. ♙Fluminense Campéon 23♙'s Jorge Mattos quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Denzil Howarth, made in the 37th minute of the game. Erasmo Cardoso recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 48th minute, Erasmo Cardoso got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
