The corner led Manchester City FC's Mao Feng Qiang to fire away a dangerous shot which Erik Grøneng despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Erik Grøneng made an important save on a dangerous shot by Aşır Zabit in the 15th minute. 17 minutes into the match, Gunnah FC's goalkeeper Erik Grøneng had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Aşır Zabit. Mao Feng Qiang could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 22nd minute of the match, but Erik Grøneng made a huge save. Aşır Zabit made a well adjusted shot against goal in the 24thth minute coming free in front of the goal, but Erik Grøneng would not let the ball come through at any expense and made a nice save by the left post. Erik Grøneng made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mao Feng Qiang in the 26th minute. Gunnah FC's Ted Boshuis got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 29th minute Mao Feng Qiang shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erik Grøneng saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mao Feng Qiang in the 31st minute of play forced Gunnah FC's goalkeeper Erik Grøneng to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 33 minutes into the match, Gunnah FC's goal looked a bit too open when Mao Feng Qiang came free, but Erik Grøneng reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Harun Oymen was the one to do the kick off.
