Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling François Rouvrais in the 4th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Norbert Balonek prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Norbert Balonek showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pompiliu Roşculeţ, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. Johnny Banks made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gabi Gol in the 7th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 8 minutes, Pompiliu Roşculeţ put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Norbert Balonek. Mark Faiko sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Norbert Balonek stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of François Rouvrais's shot from short distance in the 14th minute. Mark Faiko fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Johnny Banks having to interfere. Norbert Balonek showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pompiliu Roşculeţ in the 17th minute of the match. Norbert Balonek made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pompiliu Roşculeţ in the 21st minute of play. 24 minutes into the game, FC Hamburg's François Rouvrais nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Norbert Balonek made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. FC Hamburg's Johnny Banks proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 27th minute of the match, managed to save FC Hamburg from getting a goal against them. Norbert Balonek made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pompiliu Roşculeţ in the 28th minute of play. In the 31st match minute, Goianésia E.C was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tomasz Poniewaz to maneuver through the defense. In the 32nd minute of the match Muhammad Bejaoui shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Norbert Balonek showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 33rd minute of the match, Mark Faiko got a very nice opportunity to score, but Johnny Banks was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. The audience was convinced that François Rouvrais's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Norbert Balonek was relentless in the 35th minute of the game. After some fancy dribbling in the 36th minute, François Rouvrais managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Hamburg's supporters rose to their feet, but François Rouvrais was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Norbert Balonek breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Johnny Banks had great luck who in the 38thth minute grab hold of the ball when Gabi Gol from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. With a little luck, FC Hamburg's Johnny Banks got control of the ball when Mark Faiko tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to Goianésia E.C getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Attila Kertész hit a great ball. After 44 played minutes FC Hamburg got a freekick which was hit by François Rouvrais. A collision led to FC Hamburg getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Dedé Maldini hit a great ball. FC Hamburg's Johnny Banks played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mathias Vidal in the 46th minute of play. In the 47th minute, François Rouvrais hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The Goianésia E.C players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. FC Hamburg were winning 0-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gabi Gol to make the kick off. Johnny Banks showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mark Faiko, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. 53 minutes into the match, Goianésia E.C's goalkeeper Norbert Balonek had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Pompiliu Roşculeţ. The corner led FC Hamburg's François Rouvrais to fire away a dangerous shot which Norbert Balonek despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 57th minute, Pompiliu Roşculeţ managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Hamburg's supporters rose to their feet, but Pompiliu Roşculeţ was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Norbert Balonek breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in FC Hamburg's zone, Gabi Gol stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Johnny Banks came out of the goal and Gabi Gol tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Attila Kertész kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. Pompiliu Roşculeţ could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 64th minute of the match, but Norbert Balonek made a huge save. Johnny Banks showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mark Faiko in the 66th minute of the match. Pompiliu Roşculeţ's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Norbert Balonek read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 67th minute of play. A hard shot 73 in the game by Pompiliu Roşculeţ from a close distance when the talented Norbert Balonek managed to make a qualified save. Goianésia E.C's players were relieved. After having played for 74 minutes, Pompiliu Roşculeţ managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Hamburg's supporters crossed their fingers, but Pompiliu Roşculeţ was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. FC Hamburg's Rafael Pausch was substituted for Manfred Kottsieper. FC Hamburg made a substitution. Frank Groth replaced Chris-George Heirpoel. FC Hamburg's Hendrik Holletschek was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Norbert Balonek in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Gabi Gol took the ball and in the 83 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Johnny Banks. Johnny Banks dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-4. FC Hamburg's Pompiliu Roşculeţ got a good chance for a goal in the 85th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to Goianésia E.C getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Diego Almeida hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by François Rouvrais in the 90th minute of play forced Goianésia E.C's goalkeeper Norbert Balonek to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Goianésia E.C getting a freekick after 91 minutes play. Diego Almeida hit a great ball. After 93 played minutes Goianésia E.C got a freekick which was hit by Mathias Vidal. Norbert Balonek was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 94th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Hendrik Holletschek. Tomasz Poniewaz kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched FC Hamburg eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
