The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Michel Hervé in the 5th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Marcus Deacon saved Mayo from getting behind. In the 6th match minute, Barrikako Herensugeak F.C was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sergi Velazquez to maneuver through the defense. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Idacio Ballejos in the 11th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Erik Thorstvedt prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Erik Thorstvedt stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Idacio Ballejos's shot from short distance in the 12th minute. After a rather tough play, Barrikako Herensugeak F.C's Jokin Bernal got a free kick in the 14th minute. Erik Thorstvedt showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Idacio Ballejos, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Michel Hervé sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Leizarraga Leal might have been able to make a better finish in the 29th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Marcus Deacon. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Leizarraga Leal ran back to his position shaking his head. The supporters of Barrikako Herensugeak F.C booed when Mayo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arlindo Trevisan didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marcus Deacon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Michel Hervé in the 38th minute of play. Idacio Ballejos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 43rd minute, Harri Kaine reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Erik Thorstvedt. The goal made the score 2-0. Idacio Ballejos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erik Thorstvedt having to interfere. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Idacio Ballejos was the one to do the kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Barrikako Herensugeak F.C's goal looked a bit too open when Harri Kaine came free, but Erik Thorstvedt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 54th minute Michel Hervé shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcus Deacon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Barrikako Herensugeak F.C's Michel Hervé, in the 54th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. In the 66thth minute of the game Idacio Ballejos who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Barrikako Herensugeak F.C's Erik Thorstvedt was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 69 minutes Barrikako Herensugeak F.C's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Evelio Goren who took care of the corner kick. Evelio Goren made a great header on Mayo's corner, it was just that Barrikako Herensugeak F.C's Erik Thorstvedt managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 73rd minute Idacio Ballejos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erik Thorstvedt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 74 minutes into the game, Idacio Ballejos cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-0. Erik Thorstvedt was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Mayo made a substitution. Patrick Robins replaced Will Porter. Mayo's Romulo Loiola was substituted for Harri Kaine. Erik Thorstvedt didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Steve Oliver went, in the 88th minute, to the upper right corner, 6-0 was the resulting score. Barrikako Herensugeak F.C's Erik Thorstvedt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Patrick Robins in the 92nd minute of play. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Mayo had played much better football throughout.
