Ladislao Cordarrel hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. With 22 minutes on the clock, Patrick Gomes commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Irreal Madrid fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 22nd minute. Penalty! Through an outstanding action, after 69 minutes, Genílson Simões successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Genílson Simões took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mihail Coșereanu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Genílson Simões made a fantastic save in the 73rd minute, when Chatziantoniou Xanthos sent off a good shot on target. Mihail Coșereanu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 77th minute of the match, but Genílson Simões made a huge save. If Eusébio Siqueira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Irreal Madrid made a substitution. Acácio Baiano replaced Rodolfo Trigo. Cveto Novinec didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jânio Mendes went, in the 83rd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. In the 93rd minute Mihail Coșereanu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Genílson Simões saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Irreal Madrid's Acácio Baiano got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
