Emanuel Mascovescu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jannick Melkval read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 17th minute of play. Jannick Melkval showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Emanuel Mascovescu in the 27th minute of the match. In the 31st minute, Phoenix Strikers's Traian Moldovan ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Jannick Melkval. Jannick Melkval yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-0. Traian Moldovan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Jannick Melkval tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of YR Mechelen booed when Phoenix Strikers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eric Aanuţei didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, YR Mechelen's Jannick Melkval got control of the ball when Traian Moldovan tried to sneak it across the goal line. Olimpiu Mustea scored 4-0 in the 42nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jannick Melkval, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Thanks to some nice moves Traian Moldovan could shoot a difficult shot in the 45th minute, which Jannick Melkval however easily saved by the left post. With his leg Jannick Melkval managed to avoid a goal in the 47thth minute, when Phoenix Strikers's Emanuel Mascovescu fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 4-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Miguel Van Mechelen was the one to do the kick off. 51 minutes into the match, YR Mechelen's goal looked a bit too open when Emanuel Mascovescu came free, but Jannick Melkval reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 53 minutes, Emanuel Mascovescu made it 5-0 with a short kick to the right side. YR Mechelen's Jannick Melkval tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. When the match had gone on for 58 minutes, Emanuel Mascovescu put it in 6-0 from a short distance just to the right of Jannick Melkval. 63 minutes into the match, Traian Moldovan had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jannick Melkval. YR Mechelen's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Traian Moldovan was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 7-0. Jannick Melkval made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 9-0. Phoenix Strikers's supporters crossed their fingers, but Pavel Haaland was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the match clock showed 88 minutes, the score became 10-0 when Emanuel Mascovescu sped through YR Mechelen's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Jannick Melkval. YR Mechelen's Jannick Melkval played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Toader Ghișe in the 91st minute of play. The audience was convinced that Emanuel Mascovescu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jannick Melkval was relentless in the 96th minute of the game. Phoenix Strikers's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
