The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Menéndez Walton made an important save on a dangerous shot by Santiago Silva in the 5th minute. In the 6th minute the ball was on its way in behind ΠΑΟΚ FC's goalkeeper Ingvar Nykvist, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 11 minutes into the game, Nazario Huici threw the ball into play from the sideline. ΠΑΟΚ FC's Santiago Gentiletti quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Menéndez Walton made an important save on a dangerous shot by Petros Mirtsos in the 17th minute. 23 minutes into the match, ΠΑΟΚ FC's goal looked a bit too open when Vilhelm Vilhelmsson came free, but Ingvar Nykvist reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match had gone on for 25 minutes, Santiago Silva took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Menéndez Walton to make any attempt to save it. Petros Mirtsos's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Menéndez Walton read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 27th minute of play. U.C.MILÁN's Menéndez Walton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gino Antunes in the 29th minute of play. Menéndez Walton showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gino Antunes, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. When Orlando Garrido fell near the penalty area in the 38th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored U.C.MILÁN's protests and gave Orlando Garrido a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to U.C.MILÁN getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Orlando Garrido hit a great ball. In the 39th minute of the match Petros Mirtsos shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Menéndez Walton showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Menéndez Walton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Santiago Silva in the 40th minute of play. U.C.MILÁN's Menéndez Walton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Santiago Silva in the 42nd minute of play. Francisco Antonio Bustos hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Vilhelm Vilhelmsson was the one to do the kick off. In the 53rd minute, Petros Mirtsos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. ΠΑΟΚ FC's Ingvar Nykvist proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to save ΠΑΟΚ FC from getting a goal against them. Vilhelm Vilhelmsson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 62nd minute Santiago Silva shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Menéndez Walton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 66th minute Severo Aninat shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ingvar Nykvist saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. U.C.MILÁN's Menéndez Walton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Santiago Silva in the 70th minute of play. In the 71st minute Santiago Silva shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Menéndez Walton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 71 minutes into the match, U.C.MILÁN's goal looked a bit too open when Santiago Silva came free, but Menéndez Walton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 77th minute, Petros Mirtsos ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Menéndez Walton was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. ΠΑΟΚ FC made a substitution.
