Desiderio Frederik breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Juan Sorin who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 21stth minute tested the skills of Desiderio Frederik when he managed to save the team from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Amadeo Panpili in the 35th minute of play forced S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's goalkeeper Vitor José to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 37 minutes into the game, Gustavo Quintin was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player.
