Artur Maciejewski was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Richard Geerts struck a weak shot in the 13th minute. Olav Øverby didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Royal Knights FC. Artur Maciejewski took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bastian Ytterstad, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 17 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Brufoss IL! 32 minutes into the match, Brufoss IL's goalkeeper Olav Øverby had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Richard Geerts. In the 39th minute, Segundo Volante hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Royal Knights FC's zone, Arild Reppen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Artur Maciejewski came out of the goal and Arild Reppen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Bastian Ytterstad to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd match minute, Brufoss IL was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tor-Egil Arntsen to maneuver through the defense. In the 54th minute Cristóvão Valle shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Olav Øverby saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Olav Øverby showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Richard Geerts in the 55th minute of the match. Mario Jardel charged in rather forcefully in the 58th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Mario Jardel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Olav Øverby having to interfere. Brufoss IL made a substitution. Kevin Hægeland replaced Tor-Egil Arntsen. Bastian Ytterstad's late challenge caught a Royal Knights FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bastian Ytterstad helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Brufoss IL's Bastian Ytterstad got a free kick in the 75th minute. Aníbal Fonseca hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. Jon-Egil Grønli charged in rather forcefully in the 87th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jon-Egil Grønli the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The Brufoss IL fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Olav Øverby should have stopped the shot. After 91 played minutes Brufoss IL got a freekick which was hit by Kevin Hægeland. When Aníbal Fonseca came up free with the goalie in the 92nd minute, the Royal Knights FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aníbal Fonseca couldn't finish the play. 97 minutes into the game, Afonso Alves was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Royal Knights FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Brufoss IL the free kick. Kenneth Foldnes might have been able to make a better finish in the 98th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Artur Maciejewski. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Kenneth Foldnes ran back to his position shaking his head. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Royal Knights FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Brufoss IL had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
