Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Calistrat Potopea in the 19th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Octavian Bebeșel prevented the ball from getting in the gole. F.C CLUJ MEDICINA's Bogdan Stelea played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Codrin Olaru in the 21st minute of play. When Codrin Olaru fell near the penalty area in the 23rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Granicerul's protests and gave Codrin Olaru a yellow card for diving instead. In the 23rd match minute, Granicerul was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Codrin Olaru to maneuver through the defense. In the 25th minute, Șerban Rusu reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Octavian Bebeșel. The goal made the score 1-0. In the 31st minute, Codrin Olaru left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Granicerul fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. In the 33rd minute Codrin Olaru shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bogdan Stelea saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eusebiu Ianculescu in the 34th minute of play forced F.C CLUJ MEDICINA's goalkeeper Bogdan Stelea to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 35th minute, Gigel Bulgar fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. In the 39th minute, Șerban Rusu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of F.C CLUJ MEDICINA booed when Granicerul was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Manole Colin didn't get a good kick on the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Codrin Olaru made a kick off. In the 54th minute Șerban Rusu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Octavian Bebeșel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 56th minute, Gigel Bulgar managed to get in a good position for a shot. F.C CLUJ MEDICINA's supporters rose to their feet, but Gigel Bulgar was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. After some careless play in the F.C CLUJ MEDICINA defense, Remus Pinczewski kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Bogdan Stelea. The F.C CLUJ MEDICINA fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Bogdan Stelea should have stopped the shot. Costel Strungă hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. In the 96th minute, Granicerul's Remus Pinczewski dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-5. The F.C CLUJ MEDICINA supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Granicerul's performance. The match ended with a win for Granicerul.
