Rogério Ceni made a fantastic save in the 22nd minute, when Rickard Erserman sent off a good shot on target. 25 minutes into the match, Cercadinho's goalkeeper Rogério Ceni had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rickard Erserman. After a rather tough play, Cercadinho's Luís Fernando Ferreira got a free kick in the 25th minute. When Claudinei Pirani fell near the penalty area in the 27th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cercadinho's protests and gave Claudinei Pirani a yellow card for diving instead. In the 27th match minute, Cercadinho was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Claudinei Pirani to maneuver through the defense. Cercadinho's Rogério Ceni played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mercurio San Martín in the 30th minute of play. After 34 played minutes Inter de Chillán got a freekick which was hit by Alfonso Sotta. Florencio Jax struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. Rogério Ceni didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Inter de Chillán. The audience thought a goal was coming when Vatan Enfal got free with Rogério Ceni in the 43rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when José Paulo Mello stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Vatan Enfal's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rogério Ceni read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 51st minute of play. Luís Fernando Ferreira kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. In the 55th minute the ball was on its way in behind Cercadinho's goalkeeper Rogério Ceni, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Inter de Chillán's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Tobías Izamit in the 57th minute. In the 58th minute, Vatan Enfal got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 60 minutes into the match, Cercadinho's goal looked a bit too open when Vatan Enfal came free, but Rogério Ceni reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rogério Ceni made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vatan Enfal in the 62nd minute of play. Rogério Ceni showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vatan Enfal in the 72nd minute of the match. In the 77th minute the ball was on its way in behind Cercadinho's goalkeeper Rogério Ceni, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 79 played minutes Cercadinho got a freekick which was hit by Luís Fernando Ferreira. Cercadinho made a substitution. Valiente Venezian replaced José Paulo Mello. The supporters of Inter de Chillán booed when Cercadinho was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Inter de Chillán fans cheered their team off the field, for while Cercadinho had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
