The supporters of San Pablo FC booed when Sporting de Gijón was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kauan de Barros didn't get a good kick on the ball. Óscar Cordoba was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The audience thought a goal was coming when Matias Bilintx got free with Andy Hauser in the 32nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. San Pablo FC's Andy Hauser proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 33rd minute of the match, managed to save San Pablo FC from getting a goal against them. After some careless play in the San Pablo FC defense, Saturnino Curcio kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Andy Hauser. The San Pablo FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Andy Hauser should have stopped the shot. Andy Hauser made an important save on a dangerous shot by Diego Maradona in the 42nd minute. Atilano Feo shot from long distance in the 44th minute, but Andy Hauser was prepared and stopped the ball at the left post. After some careless play in the Sporting de Gijón defense, Juan Jimenez kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Óscar Cordoba. The Sporting de Gijón fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Óscar Cordoba should have stopped the shot. Sporting de Gijón's Wayne Rooney was substituted for Alejandro Rufo. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gurbax Gascon stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Óscar Cordoba made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Juan Jimenez in the 59th minute of play. In the 61st match minute, Sporting de Gijón was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kauan de Barros to maneuver through the defense. Andy Hauser showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wayne Rooney in the 63rd minute of the match. A collision led to Sporting de Gijón getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Alphonso Davies hit a great ball. San Pablo FC's Gerardo Lia was substituted for Juan Jimenez. In the 70th minute the ball was on its way in behind San Pablo FC's goalkeeper Andy Hauser, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When San Pablo FC's Gurbax Gascon in the 71st minute got a chance for a shot 71st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. But to his dismay, Diego Maradona quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
