The audience thought a goal was coming when Fre Schoovaerts got free with Nelsinho Leite in the 29th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Nelsinho Leite made a fantastic save in the 30th minute, when Bass Boffin sent off a good shot on target. RWDM's Ritchie Kerkhofs got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Vascogoianiense FC booed when RWDM was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lennert Van der Vloedt didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dorian Quirino in the 63rd minute of play forced RWDM's goalkeeper Tony Vandenberge to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
