The audience was convinced that Willy Reynolds's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jean Van Damme was relentless in the 24th minute of the game. The Esmeraldas S.C. fans' excitement grew in the 28th match minute when Esmeraldas S.C.'s Damian Maftei looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. In the 40th minute, Leonides Modestio reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Aguinaga Nebot. The goal made the score 1-3. After having played for 44 minutes, Leonides Modestio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Papillon AC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Leonides Modestio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Damian Maftei made the kick off in the second half. Emiliano Nardo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Aguinaga Nebot read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 55th minute of play. Willy Reynolds's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 59thth minute, Jean Van Damme skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. With his leg Jean Van Damme managed to avoid a goal in the 64thth minute, when Esmeraldas S.C.'s Damian Maftei fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Aguinaga Nebot showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zosimo Vadillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. Esmeraldas S.C.'s Daniel Castillo was substituted for Martinez Cines. Aguinaga Nebot showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Leonides Modestio in the 73rd minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Esmeraldas S.C.'s Damian Maftei got a free kick in the 77th minute. Papillon AC's Gustavo Birila was substituted for Leonides Modestio. Papillon AC's Astor Chinto was substituted for Timoteo Herrera. Jean Van Damme showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Damian Maftei, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. 89 minutes into the match, Papillon AC's goal looked a bit too open when Damian Maftei came free, but Jean Van Damme reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Aguinaga Nebot showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gustavo Birila in the 92nd minute of the match. Sergio Jerano took the ball and in the 93 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Aguinaga Nebot. Aguinaga Nebot dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-3. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
