The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Joar Scheie made a fantastic save in the 3rd minute, when Dolf Schoonderwoerd sent off a good shot on target. Piearres Olalla received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Joar Scheie tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dolf Schoonderwoerd's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 8thth minute, Joar Scheie skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. 12 minutes into the game, Okanalp Doğu cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Jan Wessel was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Dolf Schoonderwoerds short, quick shot in the 15thth minute got Joar Scheie to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The Underdogs's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Ed Palsma in the 22nd minute. In the 25th minute Atabek Tecimen suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. CAN ERZURUM's Pan Wei Quan was substituted for Atabek Tecimen. In the 26th match minute, The Underdogs was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Frank de Boer to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in The Underdogs's zone, Sven-Olof Vestlund stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jan Wessel came out of the goal and Sven-Olof Vestlund tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With an all-out effort, The Underdogs's Joar Scheie threw himself towards the right post 33 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Piearres Olalla, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The Underdogs's Frank de Boer got his second yellow card of the match in the 35th minute. The referee ordered Frank de Boer off the ground. A collision led to The Underdogs getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Frank de Boer hit a great ball. Jan Wessel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pan Wei Quan, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. Joar Scheie showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Robin Boelens in the 42nd minute of the match. In the 45th minute, Pan Wei Quan had to be helped off the field due to a pulled leg muscle. 45 minutes into the game, Ed Palsma was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. The Underdogs's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave CAN ERZURUM the free kick. CAN ERZURUM made a substitution. Arda Turan replaced Pan Wei Quan. 47 minutes into the game, Sven-Olof Vestlund cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Jan Wessel was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Santiago Aureo's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Jan Wessel firmly grabbed it by the left post. Jan Wessel was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. With a little luck, The Underdogs's Jan Wessel got control of the ball when Birkan Kayra tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 77 played minutes The Underdogs got a freekick which was hit by Robin Boelens. The Underdogs's Jan Wessel proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 79th minute of the match, managed to save The Underdogs from getting a goal against them. When the match had gone on for 80 minutes, Sven-Olof Vestlund took a quick shot and it went in 0-5 without a chance for Jan Wessel to make any attempt to save it. Jan Wessel was out of position in the 85 minute of play, and Arda Turan capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Arda Turan really showed his touch with that goal: 0-6. The Underdogs's Jan Wessel proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 88th minute of the match, managed to save The Underdogs from getting a goal against them. Jan Wessel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sven-Olof Vestlund, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 90th minute, CAN ERZURUM's Arda Turan ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Jan Wessel. Jan Wessel yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-7. With his leg Jan Wessel managed to avoid a goal in the 93rdth minute, when CAN ERZURUM's Turgut Şimşek fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After 94 minutes The Underdogs's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Sven-Olof Vestlund who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on CAN ERZURUM's corner Sven-Olof Vestlund fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Jan Wessel quite easily take care of the ball. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched CAN ERZURUM eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
