An unexpectedly hard shot by Amerigo Gervasi in the 6th minute of play forced Iceland's goalkeeper Petr Čech to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 10 minutes Iceland's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Jacek Biskupiak who took care of the corner kick. 14 minutes into the match, Iceland's goal looked a bit too open when Natalio Favila came free, but Petr Čech reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 14 minutes into the match, Natalio Favila had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Petr Čech. Iceland's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Natalio Favila was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. After a rather tough play, Iceland's Níls Margeirsson got a free kick in the 17th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Níls Margeirsson during the 20th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 20th match minute, Iceland was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Níls Margeirsson to maneuver through the defense. Przemyslaw Plachetka fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Petr Čech having to interfere. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The throw-in from Níls Margeirsson in the 31st minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Æsir Ásgarðr's Elfráður Unnarsson. Vélaugur Óskarsson hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. Petr Čech showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Natalio Favila, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Petr Čech made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Natalio Favila in the 37th minute of play. A nice corner shot did that Vélaugur Óskarsson got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Mustafa Arif Devrim quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Rögnvaldur Bjarmarsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Mustafa Arif Devrim tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Iceland made a substitution. Kristmundur Knútsson replaced Viggó Ólafsson. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Natalio Favila was the one to do the kick off. In the 54th minute of the game Níls Margeirsson made a throw-in which Glói Emilsson played forward. Natalio Favila sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Petr Čech made a fantastic save in the 55th minute, when Natalio Favila sent off a good shot on target. Vélaugur Óskarsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Mustafa Arif Devrim tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 62 minutes into the match, Iceland's Vélaugur Óskarsson sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Mustafa Arif Devrim narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 64th minute Hólmfastur Óskarsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mustafa Arif Devrim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Petr Čech made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jacek Biskupiak in the 69th minute of play. In the 70th minute of the match Æsir Ásgarðr got a corner. Iceland's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Jacek Biskupiak ran over to the corner to take the kick. A well-hit corner resulted in Jurand Iwaszko heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Natalio Favila's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Petr Čech read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 72nd minute of play. Níls Margeirsson made in the 76th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Rögnvaldur Bjarmarsson. In the 77th minute Hólmfastur Óskarsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mustafa Arif Devrim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Níls Margeirsson got a throw-in 79 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Össur Ármannsson. Natalio Favila sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 85 minutes into the match, Iceland's goalkeeper Petr Čech had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Natalio Favila. In the 88th minute the ball was on its way in behind Iceland's goalkeeper Petr Čech, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 90 minutes into the match, Æsir Ásgarðr's goal looked a bit too open when Hólmfastur Óskarsson came free, but Mustafa Arif Devrim reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 97 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Iceland! Petr Čech had in the 99thth minute some difficulties stopping Jacek Biskupiak's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Æsir Ásgarðr's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
